Convicted rapist Russell Brand and wife Laura shared fears about him going to prison before guilty verdict
Russell Brand and his wife, Laura Gallacher, reportedly discussed their fears about the possibility of him going to prison just days before a jury found him guilty of rape and sexual assault.
The previously recorded conversation has attracted renewed attention following the dramatic conclusion of Brand’s criminal trial at Southwark Crown Court in London.
During an October 11 episode of their Sunday Service programme, Laura read a supportive message from a follower who expressed hope that Brand would find strength through the difficult legal proceedings, even if the outcome meant imprisonment.
Brand then openly acknowledged his concerns about the possibility of going behind bars.
“I don’t like things where it’s like you might have to go to prison,” he told his wife.
Laura responded by acknowledging that imprisonment was one possible consequence of facing a criminal trial.
The exchange, recorded just one day before jury selection began, has taken on a different significance following Thursday’s verdict.
Russell Brand Found Guilty on Four Charges
On November 5, 2026, a jury at Southwark Crown Court found Brand guilty of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault involving four women.
However, he was acquitted of two additional rape charges and one charge of attempted indecent assault.
The verdict followed a trial lasting nearly four weeks, during which six women gave evidence about allegations dating between 1999 and 2009.
Brand had denied the charges against him.
Following the guilty verdicts, the judge indicated that he was facing a significant custodial sentence. His application for bail was refused, and he was remanded into custody ahead of his sentencing hearing, scheduled for November 9.
Laura Gallacher’s Support During the Trial
Laura, who married Brand in 2017, attended much of the proceedings and reportedly became visibly emotional following the verdict.
The couple share three children and have largely maintained a family life away from the spotlight.
During the trial, Laura also gave evidence describing her experience of their marriage and presenting her account of Brand’s character as a husband and father.
The prospect of imprisonment has now become a reality for the family following the jury’s decision.
More Legal Uncertainty Ahead
Brand’s legal situation could extend beyond the convictions announced this week. Police investigations into additional allegations involving two women remain ongoing.
For now, attention is focused on his upcoming sentencing hearing, where the court is expected to determine the length of his prison term.
The resurfaced conversation with Laura offers a glimpse into the concerns surrounding the trial before the verdict was delivered.
What began as a private discussion about a possible prison sentence has become particularly significant following the jury’s decision.
