The return of Emma Raducanu will shake Tennis world again
Her response to the critics? ‘One thing I’ve learnt is that my reach goes a lot further than the headlines,’ Raducanu told The Times. ‘Because that’s just clickbait.’ Inspiring a younger generation of tennis players, she says, is ‘way more impactful’.
And now she’s made her return to home courts, training in Roehampton for the grass court swing after Roland Garros denied her a wildcard entry.
As the clay season draws to a close and the run up to Wimbledon begins, it’s a callback to Raducanu’s breakthrough run at SW19, where she reached the fourth round three years ago.
‘No one ever knows when it’s going to show up,’ she said of her game, nigh on unplayable at its best, ‘but I’m doing a lot of good things and I’ve put in a lot of work and it’s heading in a good place. I fully back myself and trust myself.
