Raducanu has a 17-year-old Andreeva comparisons at French Open
Mirra Andreeva is already being called “the new Maria Sharapova” and she hasn’t even won anything yet.
Her run at the French Open has already placed Andreeva squarely in the frame as one of the dark horses for the Wimbledon title in a few weeks’ time, exactly 20 years on from Sharapova’s victory that resonated around the world.
Andreeva, 17, would make similarly seismic waves if she repeated the feat, but is already having to learn that life is tough at the top.
“If you start to have a lot of attention, then of course expectations from a lot of people from your country,” Lucie Safarova, French Open finalist in 2015, according to a reliable source.
“I think that’s something that we can see like with Eugenie Bouchard coming up playing really well, or even like [Emma] Raducanu.
