NFL legend Terry Bradshaw, 76, didn’t just sit back when things got real. When passengers were trapped on a plane, he jumped into action like it was the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl. No spotlight, no cameras—just heart. A true hero off the field, proving that age is just a number when someone needs saving…

The story of Terry Bradshaw heroically saving passengers trapped on a plane has been widely discussed, but it’s worth digging into the details to separate fact from legend. On April 10, 2025, Bradshaw, the 76-year-old Pittsburgh Steelers icon and NFL Hall of Famer, was on a flight from Dallas-Fort Worth to Pittsburgh. After landing at Pittsburgh International Airport, the plane’s door reportedly jammed, leaving passengers stuck onboard for around 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the account.
Initial reports, fueled by passenger Selah Holland (also referred to as Selah Gamble in some sources), painted a vivid picture: Bradshaw, seated in the front row, supposedly used his strength to help force the door open, earning a lighthearted shoutout from the pilot who chuckled, “Thanks to the strength of one of our passengers, we were finally able to get the door open.” Holland shared how Steelers fans onboard had jokingly suggested Bradshaw “bust down the door,” only to be amazed when he allegedly did just that. The story spread like wildfire, with outlets like KDKA, Yahoo Sports, and The US Sun calling it a heroic act, framing Bradshaw as a real-life superhero stepping up in a clutch moment. Social media buzzed with fans praising his grit, some even half-joking the Steelers should sign him back up.
But Bradshaw himself threw a flag on the play. On April 11, he took to Instagram to clarify: “Just to set the record straight… I did nothing to open the door on the plane! The maintenance crew had it open in 15 [minutes].” His team backed this up, telling KDKA he sat patiently like everyone else while maintenance handled the issue. This contradicts Holland’s account, though she stood by her story when pressed, insisting Bradshaw helped. CBS Pittsburgh later noted their initial report, based on Holland’s firsthand claim, was incorrect, and clarified that maintenance resolved the situation.
So, what’s the truth? It’s likely a mix of enthusiasm and misunderstanding. Passengers, possibly caught up in the excitement of being stuck on a plane with a football legend, may have hyped up Bradshaw’s involvement after hearing the pilot’s vague announcement. The idea of a 76-year-old four-time Super Bowl champ muscling a plane door open is a feel-good tale, especially since Bradshaw was in town for a roast celebrating teammate Mel Blount and the 50th anniversary of the Steelers’ first Super Bowl win. But modern aircraft doors are complex, designed with safety mechanisms that typically require trained personnel or equipment to address—making it improbable one person, even a former quarterback, could just “force” one open.
Bradshaw’s humility in shutting down the narrative adds to his character. He didn’t need the spotlight to shine; he was content letting the maintenance crew get the credit. It’s a reminder that heroism doesn’t always need a cape—or a crowbar. Sometimes, it’s just about being present and keeping cool under pressure, something Bradshaw’s proven on and off the field for decades. Whether he physically opened the door or not, the story reflects how much people still look up to him, ready to believe he’d step up when it counts.

Other images showed Kim consoling families of the deceased and kneeling before a portrait of a fallen soldier to pay his respects, placing what appeared to be medals and flowers beside images of the dead. The North Korean leader also mentioned the "pain of waiting for one hundred and twenty days in which he had never forgotten the beloved sons even for a moment". In September, Kim appeared alongside Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin at an elaborate military parade in Beijing. Kim did not respond to an offer from Donald Trump to meet during the US president's Asia trip in October.

Hassett, for his part, made the case at the WSJ CEO Council on Tuesday that he would be independent if chosen. He said the Fed chair’s role is to “do the right thing.” “Suppose that inflation has gotten from, say, 2.5 percent to 4 percent,” he said. “You can’t cut.” The tension between such comments and the fact that the Fed chair sweepstakes is ongoing underscores just how difficult Trump is making things for his future Fed chief. Delivering cuts next year might also be easier said than done.
