Fun to See’ Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes’ Work Up Close – Carson Wentz.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Carson Wentz is only new to the team, but he’s already enjoying seeing Patrick Mahomes do his business in preseason.

Carson Wentz’s latest NFL stop is the Kansas City Chiefs, and he will be part of a quarterback room with Patrick Mahomes as its centerpiece.

Having bounced around the league over the last couple of seasons (three teams in three years), Wentz is again getting used to a new environment and system under head coach Andy Reid.
With Wentz having watched Mahomes from afar to now being on the practice field and meeting rooms daily, what he’s witnessed from the future Hall of Famer has been incredible.

“Just seeing him live in practice, he processes the game really quick,” Wentz said. “You can see that coming in. He calls protections, he’s in and out of the huddle, throwing anticipatory throws, like all that stuff you see from afar, but it’s just fun to see it. It’s fun to see.”

While Wentz’s days as a consistent NFL starter are likely over, he can still contribute a lot to helping Mahomes and the offense continue performing at a high level.

We have seen the value of having a good backup quarterback, and the Chiefs know this all too well with Chad Henne, who stepped in for an injured Mahomes to lead the Chiefs to a 27-20 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Divisional Round back in the 2022 season.
Wentz will be hoping he can offer something similar if called upon, but right now, it’s about learning yet another system, and having a player like Mahomes to learn from will only benefit Carson.

It is his fourth team in four years, and Wentz will hope to stay a little longer in Kansas City and contribute to the franchise’s pursuit of a historic three-peat.
