"Cherishing Family Bonds: Meet Andy Reid's Remarkable Five Children and Learn More About His Sons and Daughters"

The Kansas City Chiefs head coach is the father of five children, all of whom he welcomed with wife Tammy Reid. They share sons Garrett, Britt and Spencer Reid and daughters Drew Ann and Crosby Reid.

The couple’s first child was born when Andy was finishing his master’s degree in Utah. Due to Andy’s coaching career, the Reids were constantly on the move — which is why each of their five kids were born in different states.

If there’s one thing that trumps Andy’s love of football, it’s family. Tammy has previously opened up about her husband’s commitment to her kids amid his busy schedule as coach.

“He would go in at these crazy hours and then he would come home by a quarter to 7 [in the morning] and do breakfast with the kids,” Tammy recalled in a story written for the Kansas City Chiefs. “He then would drive one group to school and I would take the others.”

All of Andy’s sons pursued football-focused careers, like their dad. Spencer was able to be with Andy on the sideline for some of his playoff victories.

“Just to see your husband next to your sons, it’s awesome,” Tammy continued. “All the pictures we have of them hugging after games, just to know that they’re with their dad and that they get to share this joy together. It’s emotional.”

Appearing in a postgame interview after his Super Bowl LVIII win against the San Francisco 49ers, Andy, accompanied by Tammy, joked about the effect their kids had on him: “She had five kids and it completely ruined my body. I’m not sure what happened!”

In contrast to Andy and Tammy’s life in the spotlight, their kids keep rather low profiles and are rarely photographed together. The couple also has 12 grandchildren, with whom they often share sweet moments together after Chiefs games.

Garrett Reid is Andy and Tammy’s first child, born while his father was finishing his master’s degree in Utah.

In 1999, Andy became the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. According to The New York Times, his kids had “idyllic upbringings,” having been involved in Eagle Scouts and piano lessons through age 18.

In August 2012, Garrett died following a heroin overdose, according to CBS News. At the time, he was working for the Eagles as an assistant to the strength and conditioning staff and was found in his dorm room at the team’s training site in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Garrett, who was 29 at the time of his death, had experienced drug addiction for almost a decade. Following his passing, Andy and Tammy thanked fans for their support.

“Even though he lost the battle that has been ongoing for the last eight years, we will always remember him as a fighter who had a huge, loving heart,” they said in a press statement.

After the Chiefs won the Super Bowl in 2020, Tammy briefly addressed the death of her oldest child. “The fact that we were all here, that was amazing,” Tammy said of the game, referencing her other four children. “Except for ‘G.’ So sad, but I know he’s watching us.”

Britt Reid is Andy and Tammy’s second child, born in San Francisco “when Reid was out selling hot dogs to make ends meet.” Similar to his older brother Garrett, he was an Eagle Scout and took piano lessons through age 18 in a suburb of Philadelphia.

As Britt grew older, he also began to show interest in a football career, and worked in several assistant coaching positions.

“His father hired him to the Kansas City staff after he coached a season at a high school, interned under his father with the Eagles and served as a student assistant at Temple,” per the NYT.

By 2007, according to the NYT, Britt and Garrett were “deeply involved in drugs.” They were arrested on various felony charges, including drunken driving and drug possession for Britt.

Ahead of the Chiefs Super Bowl championship against the San Francisco 49ers in 2019, Britt acknowledged his past behavior and the good fortune that came his way as the son of Andy.

“I just needed to grow up,” he said, per the NYT. “Some people make dumber decisions than others when young, and you’ve just got to learn from them. I believe there are positives to everything in life, but, no matter how bad it is, you can take something from it. I am sure I learned that from my father, and so that’s kind of what carries me through.”

Less than one year after that Super Bowl win, Britt was named in an assault investigation involving a Kansas City police officer in Nov. 2020. Three months after that — and three days before the Chiefs played in their second straight Super Bowl — a crash he caused in February 2021 left a little girl severely injured.

According to the police, Britt was behind the wheel of his pickup truck, driving near GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, when he struck two vehicles that had stopped along the side of the highway, injuring two children.

Britt, who was the linebackers/outside linebackers coach with the Chiefs at the time of the crash, admitted to drinking prior to getting behind the wheel, police said at the time. The crash, which also injured Britt, left Ariel Miller, 5, in a coma for 11 days; her family’s lawyer told the NYT her injuries were life-altering. (The other child, a four-year-old, had non-life-threatening injuries.)

Crosby is their third child and the eldest of Andy and Tammy’s two daughters. She lives a rather low profile in comparison to her parents.

However, she stepped into the spotlight to perform the National Anthem before the Kansas City Chiefs took on the Los Angeles Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium in December 2019. Andy spoke highly of her musical talents during a press conference ahead of the game.

“She’ll do good,” Andy said. “I get more nervous than she does; she enjoys it.”

He also joked that her musical talent didn’t come from him: “I can’t sing a lick!” he joked. “My wife, it’s all on her side.”

In February 2020, when Andy clinched his first Super Bowl win as head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, Crosby attended the game alongside her siblings and mom. She opened up about the bittersweet victory in the wake of losing her brother, Garrett.

“Garrett’s spirit was there. It was a huge family moment seeing my dad’s dream finally come true,” she told the The Philadelphia Inquirer

Drew Ann is Andy and Tammy’s fourth child, born in Missouri.

Similar to Crosby, Drew Ann lives a life out of the spotlight and there is little known about her personal life.

In February 2020, Drew Ann joined her family in attending the Super Bowl when the Chiefs were victorious over the San Fransisco 49ers, but was not photographed. Her mom, Tammy, told The Philadelphia Inquirer what it meant for her family to be together to celebrate the win.

Spencer Reid is the youngest of Andy and Tammy’s children, born in Wisconsin. But he almost broke his parents’ streak of having a baby in a new state each time.

Tammy recalled becoming pregnant with baby number five and telling Andy their family “had to move” from Missouri. When Andy asked why, she said, “Because we’ve already had a baby here!”

A few months later, Tammy said that Andy “got a call” to be the tight end coach and assistant offensive line for the Green Bay Packers. “So off to Green Bay we went and baby number five was born there,” she said. “So we have five children all born in five different states!”

Spencer followed in his father’s footsteps to the football field; he’s worked as a strength and conditioning coach for several teams to date.

Spencer spent a year as assistant strength and conditioning coach for football at Brigham Young University, where Andy and Tammy met as students before marrying in 1981.

Following his stint at BYU, Spencer then went on to continue his efforts at Colorado State and Boston College before landing a job as assistant strength coach for the Chiefs.
