Brock Purdy, 49ers offense experiencing all kinds of problems vs. Chiefs… WATCH VIDEO π
The 49ers can’t beat the Chiefs solely by their defense and special teams, meaning Brock Purdy and Co. need to get their act together.
So far, Week 7 against the Kansas City Chiefs isn’t looking like quarterback Brock Purdy’s best game.
And that might be an understatement.
Granted, KC boasts one of the better defenses in the NFL, one that frustrated Purdy and Co. last February in the Super Bowl. And the Week 7 rematch has to be taken into context with the Niners offense missing a good deal of its weaponry, namely All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey, who has yet to play this season because of his Achilles issues. And wide receiver Deebo Samuel is dealing with an illness, too.
That said, Purdy and San Francisco’s offense has had almost nothing going for them over the course of the first half against Kansas City.
Purdy was intercepted on his first pass of the game, an odd decision off a bootleg where he attempted to hit his target within three Chiefs defenders.

Things didn’t get much better.
Heading into the halfway point of the second quarter, Purdy was 2-of-7 for a mere 16 yards, his passer rating hitting 0.0.
About the only highlight Purdy had was a decent 8-yard completion to tight end George Kittle, although a subsequent pass attempt to wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk was dropped.
Had Aiyuk hauled it in, it would have been a much-needed first down.
In contrast, San Francisco has just one first-down conversion against KC’s 11, and the Niners’ conversion was via a penalty, so it shouldn’t be a surprise Kansas City is up 14-3.
If the 49ers want to enact vengeance for what happened in the Super Bowl last February, it’ll require much, much more from Purdy and the rest of his offense.
