Kayla Nicole would very much like to be excluded from this narrative. The sports reporter—who dated Travis Kelce for five years before their 2022 breakup—had an awkward moment on the red carpet at a New York Fashion Week event when asked if she had “any comment” on his engagement to Taylor Swift.

In response to the question, Kayla told The Daily Mail at the House of Champion event, “Oh, no, no, no.”

She did however confirm that she’s currently single and shared what she’s looking for in a man.

“I love a very honest man,” the 33-year-old shared. “A man of really great character. Someone who likes to have fun. Spontaneous, great relationship with their family, has really good girlfriends. The list is long!”

While she hasn’t directly addressed her ex’s recent engagement, Kayla did make a cryptic move on social media hours after Taylor and Travis announced the news Aug. 26, resharing a telling clip in which Tracee Ellis Ross talks about her “experiencing joy.”

In the video, Tracee discusses the importance of joy in her life and the work she puts in to maintain it.

I work at it,” she says. “I think joy is different from happiness. I feel like happiness is something you can get at 7/11, and joy is something you earn and work for and takes practice.”

Kayla had previously revealed how splitting from Travis ahead of his relationship with Taylor has impacted her on a personal level.

“Going through a public breakup, just to be frank, it’s been overwhelming,” she shared on Special Forces: The World’s Toughest Test back in January. “I’ve never experienced anything like it.”

“It’s pretty constant and exhausting,” she added of the “social media battlefield” she’s had to navigate as a result of her former relationship. “It doesn’t matter, I could post about the sky being blue and people will have a response about an ex and their new situation. It’s inadvertently affected me to the point where it makes me question my overall value as a person.”
