KANSAS CITY, MO. (WIBW) – The Kansas City Chiefs came out on top of a tough, back-and-forth affair against the Cincinnati Bengals at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday afternoon, winning 26-25.

The first quarter wasn’t too eventful offensively, both teams only adding field goals to make it 3-3 entering the second.

Then the touchdowns began. Andrei Iosivas caught a 4-yard touchdown pass from Joe Burrow to give Cincinnati a 10-3 lead.

But the Chiefs soon tied it up, as Rashee Rice hauled in a 44-yard downfield dime from Patrick Mahomes to make it 10-10.

The Bengals were able to add one more field goal with 4:19 to go, then capitalized on a Chiefs fumble to make it 16-10 with one more field goal before heading into halftime.

Kansas City was the first to strike in the third quarter, as offensive lineman Wanya Morris reigned in a 1-yard touchdown from Mahomes to take a 17-16 Chiefs lead.

Iosivas then caught his second touchdown of the day to reclaim a 22-17 Cincinnati lead.

Kansas City’s defense then turned the tables in the fourth quarter, as Chamarri Conner recovered a Bengals fumble and took it 38 yards to the house for a pick six.

They tried to make it a three-point game with a two-point conversion attempt from Mahomes to Xavier Worthy, but it failed. Kansas City led 23-22 with 14:40 to go in the game.

The Bengals kept the back-and-forth trend going with a 53-yard field goal to once again control the lead 25-23.

The Chiefs had one final chance to drive it down the field and score in the final minutes. On 4th & 16, a downfield shot by Mahomes was incomplete, but defensive pass interference was called on the Bengals, and it gave the Chiefs an automatic first down.

The Chiefs offense attempted to drive down the field a bit more to guive Harrison Butker better field position, and he nailed it from 51 yards out.

Patrick Mahomes completed 18 of 25 passes for 151 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Isiah Pacheco added 90 yards on the ground, and Rashee Rice had a team-high 75 receiving yards.

Kansas City is now 2-0 on the young season, and will head to Atlanta for a prime time Sunday Night Football matchup on Sunday against the Falcons at 7:20 p.m.
