Taylor Swift fans are furious after receiving bad news about Travis Kelce’s girlfriend
Taylor Swift’s fans, or as they’re better known as, Swifties, have once again rallied together in defense of their idol, this time expressing their discontent over the 2025 American Music Awards (AMAs) nominations.
Despite Swift’s impressive six nominations-including Artist of the Year and Album of the Year for The Tortured Poets Department-many fans were disheartened to see her music video for “Fortnight” overlooked in the Favorite Music Video category.
A disheartening oversight
“Fortnight,” a collaboration between Swift and Post Malone, was released as the lead single from Swift’s album The Tortured Poets Department. The song achieved significant commercial success, topping charts globally and breaking streaming records.
Critics praised the track for its emotional depth and the synergy between Swift and Malone. The accompanying black-and-white music video, directed by Swift herself, featured a haunting narrative that resonated with audiences and critics alike. It garnered several accolades, including Video of the Year at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards and Best Video at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
However, the absence of “Fortnight” from the AMA nominations has left many fans feeling that the video’s artistic achievements were unjustly overlooked. On social media platforms, Swifties have voiced their frustrations, with some labeling the omission as a “crime” and questioning the AMAs’ criteria for recognition.
“That master piece got overlooked,” wrote one fan, while another wrote, “”The fortnight music video is actually so beautiful and well-made. i don’t know why it was completely robbed at all the big award shows.”
Another fan added: “Not nominating FORTNIGHT is a CRIME. #AMAs you know that mv was a masterpiece. Did you intentionally snubbed it or are you preparing a special award for Fortnight MV.”
Looking ahead
Despite this setback, Taylor Swift continues to hold the record for the most AMA wins in history, with 40 to her name. The upcoming ceremony on May 26 in Las Vegas presents an opportunity for her to further solidify her legacy.
