Erin Andrews’ Disney Dream: Finding Joy After the Storm

Erin Andrews, the beloved sportscaster known for her sideline reporting and vibrant personality, has faced more than her fair share of challenges. From a public battle with cervical cancer to the emotional toll of fertility struggles, her journey has been one of resilience and hope. But in a heartwarming turn, Andrews recently shared a slice of pure happiness—a magical family vacation at Disney that reminded her, and her fans, that even after the darkest storms, moments of light can shine through.
A Battle with Cervical Cancer
In 2016, Andrews was diagnosed with cervical cancer, a bombshell that came at the height of her career. At 38, she was covering the NFL for FOX Sports and co-hosting Dancing with the Stars, but the diagnosis forced her to confront her mortality. She underwent surgery and, remarkably, returned to work just weeks later, covering the NFL season while keeping her diagnosis private at first. In a 2017 interview with Health magazine, she revealed, “I didn’t want pity. I wanted to keep doing my job.” Her strength resonated with many, as she later became an advocate for regular screenings, urging women to prioritize their health.
The cancer was caught early, and Andrews was declared cancer-free after treatment. But the experience left a lasting impact, particularly on her dreams of starting a family. The surgery, while life-saving, raised concerns about her fertility, setting the stage for another emotional chapter.
The Heartache of Fertility Struggles
Andrews and her husband, former NHL player Jarret Stoll, began their fertility journey with high hopes but faced years of setbacks. The couple turned to in vitro fertilization (IVF), a process Andrews described as grueling in a 2021 essay for The Players’ Tribune. She detailed the endless doctor’s appointments, hormone injections, and the crushing disappointment of failed cycles. “You feel like you’re failing at something you’re supposed to be able to do,” she wrote, capturing the raw vulnerability of infertility.
After multiple rounds of IVF over nearly a decade, Andrews and Stoll welcomed their son, Mack, via surrogate in June 2023. The moment was a triumph, but it didn’t erase the pain of the journey. Andrews has been candid about the toll infertility took on her mental health, admitting in a 2024 podcast with People that she sought therapy to cope with the stress and grief. Her openness has made her a beacon for others navigating similar struggles, proving that even public figures face private battles.
A Disney Escape: Making Memories with Mack
Fast-forward to early 2025, and Andrews found herself in a place of unfiltered joy—Disney World, with her husband and 19-month-old Mack in tow. The trip, shared through glimpses on her Instagram and discussed in a recent E! News interview, wasn’t just a vacation; it was a celebration of survival, love, and the family she fought so hard to build.
At Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Andrews soaked in the wonder of watching Mack experience the park’s magic for the first time. From meeting Mickey Mouse to riding Dumbo the Flying Elephant, the moments were priceless. “Seeing his little face light up—it’s like every hard day was worth it,” she told E! News. The family stayed at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, indulging in character breakfasts and nighttime fireworks. Andrews, ever the sports enthusiast, even snuck in a visit to ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex, blending her professional passion with family fun.

Hassett, for his part, made the case at the WSJ CEO Council on Tuesday that he would be independent if chosen. He said the Fed chair’s role is to “do the right thing.” “Suppose that inflation has gotten from, say, 2.5 percent to 4 percent,” he said. “You can’t cut.” The tension between such comments and the fact that the Fed chair sweepstakes is ongoing underscores just how difficult Trump is making things for his future Fed chief. Delivering cuts next year might also be easier said than done.
